Yes you must have basic swimming skills to swim in the cenote. It is important to be able to swim or float without a lifejacket.
Sunscreen contains harsh chemicals that can contaminate and harm the fragile ecosystem in the Yucatán Jungle and the waters of the cenote. To help keep wildlife thriving please use sun-protective clothing.
The average temperature is 24-25° C (77° Fahrenheit). The depth varies greatly from one section to another. You will always have a life jacket and you will be accompanied by your guide.
We recommend wearing shorts a t-shirt and a pair of running shoes or water shoes. You will get completely wet during your adventure in the cenote so make sure to bring a towel and a dry change of clothes. We will provide secure lockers for your belongings at the base camp.
