You’ll see cormorants and osprey during your crossing to the island and you may even be lucky enough to spot wild dolphins. Then it’s on to Isla Pasión where a small and shallow lagoon and a sand bank make it possible to walk to the island of Holbox.
This area is a feeding ground for flamingos and a variety of other birds including herons and egrets, pelicans, cormorants and frigate birds. The boats will tie up on the Holbox waterfront where lunch will be served at a restaurant overlooking the beach. Then it’s time to board a golf cart to explore the island (optional, extra cost) . Start in the picturesque fishing village of Holbox where pastel-colored wooden houses line the sandy streets. Then drive along the island for breathtaking views of white-sand beaches, the Gulf of Mexico and the wetlands in the distance. After you have returned the golf cart, stroll along the beach where boats rock gently at their moorings, fishermen mend their nets and pelicans and terns dive for fish. Enjoy a drink at one of the thatched beach bars and remember all the amazing things you have seen during the day.
